Last Week we spoke to Munachi4u an Afrobeats and Reggae Artist based in Nigeria.
The interview began with the artist narrating his testimony of himself as a Pastor’s Kid who went off the rails and was a prodigal son who came home and now has a living saving faith in Jesus Christ. His Spotify bio is worded succinctly put as “My Music is a result of my testimony”. The artist explains the importance of testimony citing the bible verse that the saints overcome “by the blood of the lamb and by the word of our testimony’.
The artist applauds Afrobeat’s global appeal however, the artist laments that artists gaining global appeal means that concert tickets are becoming more expensive for the African Audience.
The Artist also speaks on Fatherhood confessing that whilst it’s a challenge children are a wonderful blessing from the Lord.
The part of the interview that stood out to me was the artist making a distinction between Joy and happiness. Whereas happiness is contingent on pleasing circumstances, joy comes from Jesus and is present in every circumstance even in times of sorrow and suffering. In a world where joy is in great need this interview served as a great reminder.
The artist also discussed how we should shun mediocrity and how Christian Creatives should pursue excellence despite apparently limited resources. God who is our father in heaven is also the creator of the world and we should harness the power of creativity as God’s image bearers.
